Professional Dog training began December 1, 2024!! Message now for information!
The goal of this obedience program is to strengthen the bond between you and your dog and give you control of your dog while on leash. This program is perfect for dogs 5 months or older. We teach them basic commands customized to your needs.
Imagine having an obedient dog! This training program teaches the basic obedience commands like the 4 week program, but with on and off leash control.
This training program is meant to give your dog a head start. We teach your pup the concept of learning and help them to be excited about learning. They learn basic obedience positions and commands, and it's up to you to perfect it. We will show you what your dog has learned, and how to keep the training going. You will learn rewards, corrections, timing, etc. With the knowledge that we provide, and the time, repetition and commitment that you provide, you can have an obedient dog.
Want to be able to find shed antlers while enjoying time in the woods and fields with your pup? We may have the program for you. We introduce them to the scent of Sheds and let them use their nose to find them in natural settings.
This program teaches your dog to search for and and bring antler sheds to you. They will learn in real world type situations. The dog will need to have good recall and be somewhat obedient since the dogs will be off leash for some of the training. You can add obedience training to this package if needed.
If you've ever wished that you had a dog to find wild game after the shot, this is the program for your pup. We will introduce your dog to real world tracking situations. They will learn to track fresh tracks, aged tracks and decipher the difference between real tracks, fake tracks, false tracks, cross tracks to keep them on task to find your deer.
If you are unsure of the proper ways to condition your dog to an e collar, we can help. The e collar can be a useful tool in training your dog.
**This program is not for those who have already tried introducing an e collar incorrectly. But we may be able to help you too.**
We introduce your dog to live birds, dead birds and gunfire. It is done in a fun way to bring out as much "birdyness" in your dog as possible. Introducing birds and guns in the same program is a proven method.
If water is going to be a part of your dog's life, why not make the introduction a pleasant one. This is the program to jump start your dog's love for water, the right way.
***Not all dogs are genetically suited to love water.***
***Dogs who have had bad experiences with water may never enjoy swimming. We can try to counter condition and turn this fear of water into a positive acceptance/love for water.***
The Behavior Modification/Aggression Rehabilitation program is tailored for dogs with severe aggression issues. We will work on their aggression issues along with muzzle conditioning, obedience and safe socialization (socialization = being neutral in a vicinity of other dogs and people. Not playing with them). Aggression can stem from a loss of or lack of communication between people and their dogs. If a dog doesn't know what is expected of them in a particular situation, the dog may resort to unwanted behaviors, such as resource guarding, aggressiveness, possession, guarding, biting, etc. It is important to know that once a dog has a bite history, he/she should never be in public without being on leash. Aggressive dogs need lifelong management. And their surroundings may need to be set up to help ensure the success of the dog.

We know that things come up, like a family emergency or last minute fishing trip. As long as your dog has the required vaccinations (and documentation to show it), there is a good chance that we can accommodate. In the event of an emergency, please call Stacy(507)-456-1022 or Derek (507)-456-4707.
We offer pet boarding, dog training, and dog bathing/nail trims.
Yes, we require all pets to be up to date on their vaccinations. These vaccinations include rabies, distemper and bordatella. Vaccinations should ideally be administered at least 7 days before arriving.
Yes. Just because they are intact, doesn't mean they can't have a fun stay here. As long as they mind their manners, they will play with their friends. If not, they will get plenty of one on one time with us.
Yes. We accept aggressive dogs into the boarding and training programs. However, the boarding staff doesn't allow dogs who will bite them. They had to draw the line somewhere. But we do offer rehabilitation programs for those dogs.
No. While we do everything we can to help every dog succeed, we can not get around the genetic make up of the dog. Some dogs are more trainable than others.
We do an assessment on every dog to get an idea of their trainability and their willingness to learn. We keep in contact with the parents while the dog is in training. In the event that the dog isn't learning at an acceptable level, we will have discussions about further actions.
We believe in training with the least intrusive method that works for each individual dog. If a Martingale collar or a slip lead are effective in training the dog, we keep using them. If the dog's potential isn't being reached, we may use a prong collar or e collar. We talk with all dog parents to explain all the training tools that we may use. If a parent isn't comfortable with a training tool, we won't use it. We believe that dogs need corrections and rewards to properly learn right from wrong. So, we are "balanced" trainers.
I would like to thank Animal House Pet Resort for taking such good care of Gunner while I was traveling last month. And a special thank you to Derek Williams for the training he did with Gunner. At nine months old, Gunner now knows commands that would have taken me a year to teach him, Derek did it in four weeks.

We have taken our two dogs to Animal House Pet Resort for as long as they have been open. First it was Smoke and Jewel. When Jewel passed we went with Smoke, he is a 120 Lab that they call the Gental Giant, by himself for awhile we then got Lily. Her second name was the Terriost. She is a small sized lab. This is where the review starts.
Lily liked to jump on you she also liked to nip. She has so much energy that she was uncontrolable. We went to Derek for help. She came home two days ago a different dog. She still has all her energy but heels, sits, stays, and comes when you call her. If you have any type of control issues with your dog give Derek a call. I am sure he will be able to help you!!!!!!

We are totally happy with the one month obedience training course our Penny received at Animal House Pet Resort. Penny came home a different dog. She is well behaved and her attention span is much better. Derek gave us good instructions so we can continue with her training at home. We have used Animal House for boarding our two girls before and have always been happy with the care Derek and Stacy given them. We highly recommend Animal House for boarding and training. It is a great location that is free of distractions and safe for your pet.

"You did great working with Archer. The refresher was exactly what he needed. He's walking like a champ. I'm not getting pulled and yanked around. He's not acting crazy. Okay...Most of the time he's not acting crazy. He listens and responds to correction. Thank you!!!!"

"A MAZ ING!!!!! He walked perfect. He heeled. He was engaged with me. I couldn't have had a better walk. He's stayed in place like a champ. Great job Derek and thank you so much!!!"
